Session and Site Photography for Brightstar Boxing
Client: Brightstar Date: 2nd March 2026
I spent time with Brightstar across a series of sessions in Shrewsbury, Shifnal, and Walsall, capturing the work they do with young people through sport, mentorship, and education.
The aim was to document the sessions as they naturally happen, focusing on the people, the environment, and the interactions that define the experience. Rather than creating something staged or overly directed, the intention was to reflect what’s already there, in a way that feels honest and easy to connect with.
Across each location, the work centres around energy, character, and a shared sense of support, all of which shaped the approach to capturing the sessions.
The approach was deliberately simple.
Sessions were allowed to run as they normally would, with the focus on observing and responding rather than directing. This meant working within the flow of each session, picking out moments as they happened, whether that was high-energy activity, quieter interactions, or the in-between moments that often say the most.
Filming across multiple locations brought a mix of environments and dynamics, each with its own character. The challenge was to capture that variation while maintaining a consistent feel across the work as a whole.
By keeping things natural and unobtrusive, the content reflects not just what the sessions look like, but how they feel to be part of.
Over 2000 images were captured providing an honest reflection of Brightstar’s sessions, showcasing both the activity and the atmosphere that surrounds it.
It highlights the people at the heart of the work, the attendees, the staff, and the relationships between them, while giving Brightstar a set of visuals that can be used across their platforms to communicate what they do.
More than anything, the work captures a sense of connection. Not just in the sessions themselves, but in the way people support and respond to one another throughout.
“We recently worked with ABCreative, led by Alex, to capture professional photographs of our site and sessions, and the results are amazing.
